Caring for Aging Cats as a Cat Mom

I absolutely LOVE cats! If I could, I would adopt every cat I came across. They make me feel warm and happy inside and I just love spending time with them. I've always gotten along with every cat I come in contact with; they must just know I'm a huge cat person! I feel like I am definitely a cat whisperer since becoming a cat mom 15 years ago. Two of my purrbabies have passed away in recent years, so it’s just my last senior kitty Remi and I now. She is the sweetest angel and I view her as my baby.

While I have never worked in a professional setting with cats, I’ve learned a lot through cat ownership over the years. Caring for my aging cats as their needs and health changed has certainly come with challenges, but I feel I have become a much more knowledgeable kitty caregiver because of it. My kitty who passed away earlier this year required subcutaneous fluids so I became proficient at fluids administration with her. My girl Remi currently has kidney disease and heart disease so I have to give her medication daily. I will learn whatever I can to provide the best quality of care possible for my babies.

Experienced with:

✔️ oral medication - liquids

✔️ subcutaneous fluids

Identifying Overstimulation and Understanding Body Language

I have also become very keen at reading cat body language. My girl Remi is very sensitive and gets overstimulated and aggressive very easily, so I have learned to identify the signs of when she’s starting to feel overstimulated. I have also learned to have patience when it comes to working with different cats and their personalities. Every kitty is so unique and varies in their needs. It’s very rewarding to learn and understand what a kitty is trying to ask for, whether it’s space or extra attention and be able to adjust and cater to those needs.

I recently left my 9-5 job to start my own travel agency. I am enjoying venturing out on my own and building something I am passionate about. I am a hard worker when it comes to anything I set my mind to. I always put in all the effort I possibly can for anything I am working on. I am excited to now have the flexibility in my schedule to be able to spend more of my time doing things I love and enjoying extra time with kitties! I am looking forward to meeting you and purrkids and am excited to form lasting bonds with them as their kitty sitter.
